Vercel Acquires NuxtLabs

NuxtLabs—the team behind the popular Vue-based framework Nuxt—has officially joined forces with Vercel. The acquisition, announced on July 8, 2025, means Vercel will back key Nuxt efforts, including Nitro and Nuxt Studio, while preserving the project's MIT open-source license, public roadmap, and governance structure. NuxtLabs team members, including founder Sébastien Chopin, will continue their work under Vercel’s umbrella, supported by more transparent funding via Open Collective.

Looking ahead, NuxtLabs intends to release Nuxt UI v4—with all Pro components becoming freely available—and launch an open-source, self-hostable version of Nuxt Studio. They’re also retooling NuxtHub to be provider‑agnostic, integrating smoothly with platforms like Postgres and Redis, and exploring AI-enhanced features through collaboration with Vercel’s AI teams.
