Mari Viana

Mariana S. Viana is an accomplished professional with a diverse background spanning legal research, public service, and academia. She is currently a PhD candidate at NOVA School of Law and a researcher at both CEDIS (R&D Centre on Law & Society) and the Nova Green Lab, where her work focuses on climate governance and the international legal framework for climate change, with a special emphasis on the rights of indigenous peoples.

Her career includes significant roles such as civil servant and researcher at the State Attorney General's Office of Maranhão, instructor at the State Government School of Maranhão, and Special Advisor to the Secretary of State for Human Rights and Popular Participation. Mariana has also contributed as a university professor and as a council member for the State Council for Persons with Disabilities. She holds a Master of Laws from the Federal University of Maranhão, recognized by Nova University of Lisbon, and is a licensed attorney in Brazil.
