GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform) is a robust JavaScript library designed for high-performance animations, widely used in web development for creating complex, smooth, and engaging animations. In the latest release, GSAP 3.13, the entire toolkit—including previously paid plugins like MorphSVG and SplitText—is now freely available for commercial use, following GSAP's acquisition by Webflow. This update removes the need for private repositories or Club GSAP memberships, making the tool more accessible.
The update also includes significant improvements, such as a complete rewrite of the SplitText plugin, which is now 50% smaller, features 14 new capabilities, and supports better accessibility, responsive layouts, and complex text animations. However, while GSAP is now free, it’s important to note that it isn't fully open-source. It operates under a ‘no charge’ license that prevents users from using it to directly compete with Webflow.
